Nathan Perry (1793-1870) sold off a one-acre plot to Joseph Hutchins for $10 on Aug. 5, 1850, 74:377, which became 331 Village Road. By some estimates, the house was built in 1842, but given the price of the property in 1850 and the lack of references to any structures, that is unlikely. The 1850 census had no residents in that area at that time.

Seaman Pillsbury Wakefield and his wife Julia resided at the property as of the 1860 census. Julia Ann Perry was Pillsbury’s second wife; they married in 1855. Julia was also the daughter of Nathan Perry, who lived next door (see 321 Village Road). Pillsbury was the son of Asa B. Wakefield (see 335 Village Road).

The front sunroom on the house today is a recent addition. The main building structure is consistent with local farmhouses constructed between 1855-65.
